The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET, formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), All India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.
After the enactment of the NMC Act 2019 in September 2019, NEET-UG became the sole entrance test for admissions to medical colleges in India including the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) which until then conducted separate exams. Before NEET-UG was implemented nationwide, states conducted their own entrance tests, and some prestigious Medical colleges like AIIMS, JIPMER, IMS-BHU, KMC Manipal & Mangalore, and CMC Vellore conducted their own entrance exams.
NEET was initially proposed to take place from 2012 onwards. However, for several reasons, the CBSE and Medical Council of India deferred NEET by a year. The test was announced by the Government of India and was held for the first time on 5 May 2013 across India for students seeking admission for both undergraduate and postgraduate medicine. On 18 July 2013, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of 115 petitions and canceled the NEET exam, and announced that the MCI could not interfere with the admission process done by colleges.
The NEET exam is conducted online and the medium or choice of language is dependent on the candidate as the NEET question paper 2022 will be available in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, and Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The duration of the examination is three hours and a candidate needs to answer 180 questions. The exam paper is divided into three sections — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The Supreme Court of India quashed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admissions into all medical and dental colleges on 18 July 2013. The apex court ruled that the Medical Council of India cannot conduct a unified examination.

This is the most popular course under NEET UG among the students who want to make a career in Medicine.
MBBS is a 4.5-year course, after which 12 months compulsory internship is required to do registration and practicing in order to get the degree and become a full-fledged doctor.
Note: As you know if any student is not getting admission in Government /Semi Government medical college then there is option of Deemed medical college or private medical college/University but fee of these medical colleges are comparatively high in that case some students opt for abroad MBBS admission. But our suggestion is ,before going abroad you must check all pros and cons.
Students who qualified NEET UG can get admission in BDS across top Government, Semi Government, private medical colleges and deemed universities or medical colleges in India as well as abroad.
Although, this is an undergraduate program in Dental surgery. The duration of this course is 4 years with 1 year of compulsory internship.

Ayush Courses Under NEET UG
Ayurveda is the most ancient type of medical treatment in the history of the world. And these types of medical programs come under the Ministry of Ayush. Students who are interested in Ayush courses under NEET, the list is below.
• Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery
• Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Sciences
• Unani Medicine and Surgery
• Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery
• Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery
All these program durations are 4 to 4.5 years with an extra 1 year of internship.
This is also an undergraduate program with a duration of 5 and a half years with a compulsory internship of 1 year. But the best part is the internship of 1 year included in the duration of the program. We want to make it clear that some time few states allowed such students which are having low NEET UG score.
As the program name suggests if the candidate wants to study in-depth Homeopathic then this course is best for him. It’s an undergraduate program with a duration of 5 and a half years with 1 year of the compulsory internship included in it.
This is a 5-year program in the area of Unani medicine, treatments, and surgery. After which a 1-year internship is compulsory.
This program comes under the Ministry of Ayush, which teaches students in-depth knowledge in the field of Naturopathy. It’s a 4 and half year medical course with an extra 1-year compulsory internship. In several universities, Sanskrit is used for teaching as an additional language in this program. And after qualifying from it, candidates can Medical Practice as a General Physician or get a Master Degree.
This is a UG program with a duration of 4 and a half years and another 1 year of compulsory internship. BSMS also comes under the Ministry of Ayush just like the above course. In which students taught Physiological functions of the body based on Siddha system of medicine

- Candidates need to fill out the application form from the NTA website, clarifying all the eligibility criteria. Then download the admit card when available.
- Students then need to head towards their respective allotted centres with proper documents and admit cards.
- The conducting authority will share the exam merit list based on which students have to opt for AIQ or state quota to apply for medical colleges in India.
- After releasing AIQ and the state merit list, one can fill out counselling forms of different colleges of their choice.
- The mock seat allotment process will be done to check whether students have got their preferred seats or not. Then students need to lock their choices of preferred college.

NEET - UG SYLLABUS
On the basis of the NEET Cut-off, the merit list is being prepared. One has to clear the cut-off mark to get enrolled in colleges of their choice. The cut-off is released every year for MBBS students. Following is the list of different cut-off marks for different categories:

EXAM PATTERN AND STRUCTURE
The Test pattern of NEET (UG) – 2022 comprises four Subjects. Each subject will consist of two sections. Section A will consist of 35 Questions and Section B will have 15 Questions, out of these 15 Questions, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions. So, the total number of questions and utilization of time will remain the same.
